Why is WiFi faster then LAN

i have a belkin router which is connected to my dad's computer though a lan cable and WiFi to my server. thing is, i get faster download speed though WiFi then though the cable, and if i put my WiFi card in my dad's computer it downloads same speed as my computer?
anyone got any ideas?

What kind of network card is in your dads computer? Is it an old card like a 10base T or a good 10/100 or even 10/100/1000? Make sure cable is in good condition, make sure the QOS(quality of service) is turned off in the router(im thinking that the belkin routers have that feature, im a linksys user). If all else fails and the cable looks to be in good condition, try changing it out(assuming you have a spare somewhere).
 
my dad network card is just a onboard with a nVidia chipset and it's 10/100 card. iv checked the cable, ill thy turning off the QOS later. thanks.
