why isn't my computer working properly?

My computer makes crackling sound when I play games with more than 800x600 resolution. The greater the resolution, the louder the noise is. Noise doesn't come from computer exactly, but from stereos. Otherwise I could turn my stereos off, but when I play with too high resolution, the computer will shut down almost immediatly.

I havent heard about this kind of thing before, nor I have any idea whats making my computer shut down. It would be great if any one would know something about whats causing my problem.

Maybe the higher resolution is putting greater stress on your system components, causing them to overheat. The crackling sound might be due to the heat. Try taking the side panels of the case and blowing a fan into the computer and see if it solves the problem.

im guessing the reason that your system is shutting down when you play at high resolution is due to overheating; this could either be processor or graphics card related.
crackling sound while the system is being stressed either points to poor sounds card drivers or a flaw in the program. try updating your sound card drivers. if its only one game that causes this have a look for a patch

I have seen that temperature of my room might have an effect to my computer, but I wasn't sure. Though I have in my computer twice more fans than I did in my last one.

Im having Athlon 64 3000+ and Geforce 6600, not even GT. And I have two fans in the computer case, and ofcourse one on the processor. So isn't that enough?

Your fans could be dusty and not spinning as fast as they should, or maybe there's too much dust in your case. I'd open it up, clean any of the dust out with a can of compressed air and leave it open with a fan blowing in it. Then try the games. If they still don't work you can eliminate overheating as the problem.

I opened my computer from behind the motherboard and partially from front of the motherboard becuse there was a case fan attached to it. Then I played counter strike:source with recommended grapfic setting and greater resolution.
I would never belive, but there was no noise of anykind and it worked perfectly!
Expect fps dropped a little, but it worked.

Thanks guys, I would never believe that it would help, but luckily, I tried anyway.
