i have a LG studiowork 454v and why they get so hot? i feel less hot when i put my finger in the hot tea!!

weather kinda high here .. 99*F! maybe that has to do something about it!

Anything we can do to make it cool? the back of it is turning black!!

There's a fair amount of electricity going though those things. I once had a monitor that actually had a fan in it! So yeah, they do get plenty hot sometimes. However, if it's to the point of discoloring, I'd have it looked at...

ok its not the back its the top .. a bit black ..

Ok .. and when i shake my monitor a bit .. the entire screen goes crazy .. sometimes everything goes at soooooo freakin top that i only see a small line of the actual screen at the top ..

*shakes my monitor* hmmm it doesn't flicker. I would just get a new one, its probably not worth trying to fix it.

ok .. i hate my monitor .. is this creepy theory of mine possible:
*My monitor has mysteriously increased resolution levels and now my screen is flickering coz of it?

CRT's usually do get pretty hot, i have CRT's, when im not using the pc's i turn the monitors off. if crap is really screwing up, then maybe this could be a spyware issue?

CRT moniters normally run hot, that part is normal, but the other symptons that you are describing lead me to belive that yout tube is going bad and you will need a new moniter.

Check your local advertisments, you can probally find a cheap or free one.

yeah, if theres a slight color of black on top of your monitor, obviously your monitors shot, and that signs of sonething burning the hell up lol.

go for a new moinitor pal!

I have! :P I have this friend that is monitor blew up! What happened is that his screen was streching one day to the point it was just a thin line, then it made a dot in the middle, and it started to spark like crazy and smoking, lots of smoke, this black smoke  . So he unpluged it as fast as he could. He has a LCD now, lol ;)

another thing about monitors the cathode tube they hold up to 20,000 volts dont they is that for any crt no matter what size it is, why do they hold that much

That's the voltage that's needed to shoot the electron beam at the screen. Big-screen CRT television sets go up to almost 40,000V, small 9" TV's have about 8, 9,000V.

If you shake a monitor and the pic goes nuts, you have something loose. It also sounds like something's overheating, or smoldering, at the very least, to turn the cabinet a different color. Here's another vote to just toss it and get a new monitor ASAP. I had a monitor pop, crackle, start smoking, and the picture suddenly shrank and flickered. When a monitor goes like that it's a fire hazard, and burning insulation stinks like h*ll.
