Why quality printers are phased out?

I have a Samsung SCX-4323F, which is a quality all-in-one laser.

But why are printers in general, those that are dependable with solid features phased out?

From what I gather, not too many consumers go for the wifi and other late features.

Why do I sense that some of this is due to the redesign of the toner cartridges? Do the remanufactured/compatible toners come too close on the heels of the brand name toners? Only speculating.

You'd best hit google because you'll find better results there...

If you're sensing something, take a guess and look it up.. Many people wouldn't be able to give you an exact answer unless they work with printers on a regular basis..

Did not find anything on G about the phase out (only a lot on default settings changing). Hence I come here, given this breadth and depth of hands-on resource.

Generally, maybe it could be partly based on giant production runs. Besides the "cheaper is better" reason I've not found another answer.

Unless I'm missing something here, it is not like printers seem to be undergoing major improvements as newer models are introduced.

Another reason I like to find and keep a solid printer is because all my pc images and clones are ready from the get go. There are always enough changes to make in other areas when doing a restore and I try and keep the boat steady as much as possible so as to reduce time spent committing to a restore.

Original Post note: also meant to mention inkjet cartridges, in addition to laser toners. But that reason might be more obvious.

People want cheap. Plain and simple. Many people aren't willing to shell out decent $$$$ for a quality printer. You can get decent monochrome laserjets these days for $100, and even that is too much for some people.
