Why The Need

could be cheaper to buy 2 slower video cards and have them work better together then a single more expensive card. I dunno I don't have any desire to run 2 cards together, just 1 good card.

the only reason i use two is for editing pictures with photoshop. the original on one screen and edit on the other to see the difference. On the otherhand another example is maybe with thunderbird. i want to set up junk controls. a how to doc on one screen then bring up thunderbird on the other. then just follow the instructions. No more need to print the doc. eliminates paper work.
gotta love the dual wallpaper. its different.

Multiple display support, or parallel GPU processing like in SLI or Xfire.

Performance increases are highly debatable but more and more newer games are taking more advantage of SLI, and with new multi core GPUs on the way down the road it will actually probably become distributed processing instead of parallel, which will be a better thing.

Then again, there will be the question, what is better for the price, a quad core GPU, or dual quad core GPUs?

Do note to self that all video games are developed with the idea that only a small fraction of their customers will be running SLI. They are developed to run off of one video card.

Last I checked, I can run two displays on my one video card.

Multiple displays means more than 1, which means you can run 5 or 6, I never specified a number. You can't run more than two off any video card that I know of, that isn't specifically built for more than two.

Try running 4 displays on your 1 video card and see what happens.

i only have one video card. it meets my needs. im not sure about gaming though. others are more qualified. i do not have a extensive video card even capable of gaming i don't think. works for me though.

Just because you said that, I am gonna try! :D

You cant, nvidia drivers limit you to 2 displays per graphics device.

Nope, a good singlecard is always better, plus you can always add another of the same card for sli or crossfire down the road.

I was being a smart ass, sorry sometimes my humor is just way too dry to be picked up on.

You can't do it which is why I was challenging you to do it.:D

I know I can't, and I picked up the smartass. That's why I put the big smiley face.
