I have an old mobo w/ PCI and ISA slots and a 2x AGP slot that I still use (somtimes) w/ a PII/PIII board and a Socket 370 adaptor and a PIII900.
I honestly feel this computer has lasted the longest out of any w/ only upgrading memory and CPU and some Bios Flashes.
Anyway - To the point. I have a USR Courier V.Everything 56K ISA modem in this thing (for when the DSL is out) and it outperforms any 56K modem I've ver used. Works w/ any ISP and always gets 5K downloads.
How is it that this old technology far exceeds anything I've ver used currently or in the recent past?
