Why won't it boot? Seriously...

Need HELP!!!

Hey peeps,

Yesterday I bought a Intel Core 2 Duo E 8400 with a FSB 1333 MHz. I installed it and my computer won't boot. It will run but no beep and start up? Anyone know if there is a BIOS update that helps support Intel core 2 duo E8400?
Thanks for the help!

Define run? Does it post? Do you have video? Are the fans running? Can you get into the BIOS? You haven't give us any real info on what your computer is doing.

I've updated the BIOS to the latest. The fans are working. Not error beeps, but also there are no post beep.... so it doesn't post, but it turns on. The EVGA 750i SLI FTW should naturally accept it.

I'm guessing your BIOS still has the settings saved from your old CPU and they just aren't compatible with your new CPU. This board can be very temprimental when it wants to be! Does the Post Code Readout show anything? If it's FF, it's a good sign.

I'd suggest taking the battery out for a few hours, clearing the CMOS and un-plugging the computer. Hope this helps.

Ya I had the same thing happen. I jut reset the CMOS with the little jumper and everything was fine. It had saved my old settings from my old overclock and it didn't work with some new RAM I had put in it.
