why would you pick AMD

what exactly are u asking? ask questions that make sense! ur comparing an fx55 with an intel, the fx55 was made for gaming. so what do u want to know

AMD and Intel have different strong-points. Roughly, overall, price-to-price, they're going to be roughly equal. If you really want to compare 2 processors, look up benchmarks.

This is the reason why, by comparison standards, this chip has already broken the 4 GHz barrier. The Front Speed Bus is waaay higher, the Level 1 Cache is bigger (although the Level 2 is a bit smaller...). Furthermore, and finally look at the price. These are most of the reasons why people choose AMD over Intel when they are shopping for gaming, however the Hyperthreading helps with multi-tasking, which is when people tend to choose the Intel...

because you touch yourself at night!. LOL i pick intel cuz i'm a intel FANBOY lol no..
ROTGLMAO!

I pick AMD because it's faster for the things I like to do...I know I have an Intel, but next it be AMD. :)

im jst saying those 2 processors are very different look at how much more powerful the intel is and also an intel processor with the same capabilities as the AMD one would only be like 400$ im just curious why everyone picks AMD over intel if obviously intel is better.

Yes, the AMD runs at a slower GHz/MHz, but then look at the model number (i.e. 3200+, 4000+, etc.). That is put there so that people know how they compare to an intel processor. The 3200+ would run at about the same speed as an Intel 3.2 GHz chip not exactly the same, but close... It's a benchmark so that people aren't thrown off by the lower speeds of the AMD chips. Although, again, Intel is better for multi-tasking, and AMD is better for having one program running, i.e. gaming...

Yet again, they have different strong-points. Read CPU 101 (really, fantastic read, very informative)

It's not supposed to run at 3.8GHz! That's a performance rating! READ CPU 101!

wow another 14 year old who knows shit, dont just come over here and say that intel is way better than amd when u dont have any proof or an reason at all, and plz search the forum on this

yea you need to search the forum, theres prolly 20 threads on this same subject

BEcuase intel isn;t obvoisly better, you just can;t even try and type(my typing is;t that greta, but its UNDERSTANDABLE!) and read what people say, and when people tell you to read CPU 101 you wait untill at least 3-4 times, before you might do it.

CLOCK SPEED ISN'T EVERYTHING!(Clockspeed =Mhz/Ghz)

ahhhhhhhh sorry i was aking a question omg sorry why is everyon flaming im not a fanboy or antthing i was just wonderin wht peeps pick AMD now i have read CPU 101 and now i understand :(

I believe, at least to me, that most people were taking that as a rhetorical question, I know I did. I apologize if we collectively seemed to be attacking you, most people here, myself included, seem to take the accuracy of these technology subjects very seriously. It's hard enough to understand and communicate what is going on when using the terminology and research correctly, it becomes a lot harder when there is misunderstanding and assumptions thrown in the mix. Hopefully no hard feelings, and as Monty Python says "Always look on the bright side of life!" ;)
