Yes I had a syring like that and I put it all...;-) Maybe that's the main problem for the heating and maybe it was not of good quality too...I see tomorrow I buy an Antec one which is said to be made of silver...maybe that is better than the one I have...
 
20 people will tell you 20 different ways to apply it. I like just putting a small dot and then putting the cooler on. It spreads itself:) I really watch temps and I have always had good luck doing it this way.

Here is a shot of a Q9300 with a slight overclock at 100% load for about 10 hours now...temps are in the 50s. Everytime my computer starts the processor runs wide open.

I replaced the thermal paste and now both core temp and hwmonitor are not reading my CPU temperatures. Why is that??? Help me please.

Just a thought go to "adjust offsets" on coretemp (its under options)


What does it say? Also in your BIOS does it show a accurate temp?
 
Ok I think that was just my bios reading the CPU wrongly. I fixed it now and removed overclocking but the problem is that CPU is still too hot. See below.

What is wrong.

I don't know what is wrong. I think I did everything right but temps are still quite high and it is not even overclocked now. The cooler is firmly placed on the CPU and it is not moving when I touch it. Maybe the cooler is totally bad or maybe the CPU. I don't know.

Is it normal that on the CPU there is no writing at all???

and these are the readings or core temp...can it be that some voltage or something is wrong in the bios???

first I put a blob and pressed the heat sink and it was still hot. Opened the computer, removed heat sink and put some more but still the same. Don't know what is wrong. Idle it goes down to around 60C but loaded it shoots up and it's not overclocked even.
 
I give up. Tomorrow I take it to shop and they fix the damn cooler properly because I guess I don't know how...

Well that is your issue then.

Take your CPU...clean it using Isopropyl Alcohol and cloth (I use napkins) and clean heatsink + CPU 2-3 times to ensure all old stuff is off.

Then take your Thermal Compound and put a RICE GRAIN amount of the CPU.

Take a plastic baggie and put it over your finger....put it as even as possible ALL over the CPU (spread it like butter on toast) till its covered.
The put your cooler on (and make sure not to remove it after contact)
Remember do not use your finger without a latex glove/plastic baggie over your finger....our natural body oils can effect the compound.

So you now most likley have TO much paste (thus more heat) and you have air pockets from removing your cooler and adding more to the first (thus trapping air thus even more heat)

Isopropyl Alcohol costs $1 a bottle at walmart. Computer place will charge you $50+ if your lucky.

I forgot to add since you have the crappy pushpin cooler make sure its ALL the way down. The way I did this was I took a roll of duck tape and put it UNDER the motherboard. Then I took a screwdriver (flat head) and GENTLY pushed till the pin went ALL the way down and was 100% in. Then I moved the tape so the hole I was pushing in was ALWAYS inside the "circle" of the tape.

This allowed me to do it right without bending/warping my board in the process and I noticed a 10c drop in temps after. This will require you to take your motherboard out but I promise you that it will make a difference doing it this way.

I did what you told me and it seems to have worked. When Idle I have a temp of around 52C. However when I ran Prime it still shot up to 80C and we are talking about not overclocked. Is there a way I can regulate the fan's speed? In BIOS I can choose only between Silent, Optimal and Performance and I choose Performance. What do you think? And another thing should the fan at the back of the case be blowing wind in or out of the computer? I have it blowing out.
