Wide screen monitor?

I am thinking about buying a wide screen monitor and I was wondering how the picture looks? I mean does it stretch it to make it fit and if so does that make websites look funny?

No, it shouldn't stretch anything unless you have a background that isn't the correct resolution(and possibly some really old games). The picture is going to depend on the quality of the LCD also.

It really depends on your resolution. If you run at say 1024x768(a 3:2 res) then it will stretch it out some. Or, you could deal with black boarders on either side and keep the aspect ratio correct.

If you run in a true wide screen resolution, nothing will get distorted, but you will usally throw formatting off as most applications and websites are made for 3:2 resolutions.

Does these monitors come with any kind of software to select like 4.3 aspect ratio or 16.9 like wide screen tv's?

Your video card typcially has this option(at least my 7600GT does) or some monitors will let you choose... Though I think most just stretch out by default.

I have a wide screen tv 16.9 and I can watch regular tv with black bars on each side or I can stretch it to fit but then it looks funny, I mean I can tell the picture is stretched. Thats why I was wondering if monitors made websites look funny and how does games look on them? That is the main reason I am thinking about getting one. I would like to get an lcd monitor I have a crt right now and it give me a head ache after looking at it for a while.
