Not totally computer literate here...
I installed a new widescreen monitor but cannot set widescreen resolution. I suspect graphics card??? Apparently drivers for monitor and graphics card are "up to date".
Here my specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (build 7601)

Processor: 2.00 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64; 128 kilobyte primary memory cache; 512 kilobyte secondary memory cache; 64-bit ready; Not hyper-threaded
Main Circuit Board: Board: MS-6702 1.0; Bus Clock: 200 megahertz; BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. Version 07.00T 04/02/01
Display: Standard VGA Graphics Adapter; Dell 2009W(Digital)

Any help would be appreciated greatly!

Some old Computers that were made before Widescreen Monitors, won't have those resolutions. So you would need to get the newest Drivers offered for the Video Card.

If you are sure you got the newest Drivers, then you may also need to get a new Video Card to get the proper resolutions.

You went to the display properties and looked at the available resolutions on the slider?

does it have a graphics card in, or is it the onboard vga?

If it is dedicated gpu, then you will need to download the drivers from the site of the manufacturer.

If it is onboard you could try your oem manufacturers site to see if there are any drivers.

( i presume you tried to update from device manager, usually if youve not manually installed the proper drivers it will use a generic display adapter driver.)
