wierd-choppy-cpu performance?

i just finally sucessfully installed all my drivers onto xp on my toshiba sattelite a215 s4757. but now there is a kind of wierd laggy- choppy performance. if i move the mouse around alittle, it will freeze for a split second, even when i am typing this, it does it every 5 seconds or so... for only about a second, but it is very aggravating. i took a screenshot of what my cpu usage is and when it does freeze, the cpu usage spikes. does anyone have a clue what can be the cause of this?

p.s i ONLY had the task manager opened when taking that screenshot

p.s.s- it even "chops" up music when playing music

Could you run the program "HijackThis" and then paste your results here please? This will give us a clearer indication of what might be the issue. In the meantime, just check you have the latest updates for all drivers and re-install the following, as odd as it seems, this solved the same issue on my old computer.

Re-install The ".NET Framework version 2.0, 1.1 and 3.0"
You can find them on microsofts website.

I look forward to seeing the result :D

yeah ill run that- is it possibly my graphics card?

Have you actually looked at the processes tab on the task manager, sort it by CPU usage, and see which process is constantly jumping?
 
wow- awesome- such an simple answer! hotkey.exe was bouncing from 3 to 80 back and forth back and forth. i ended the process. i still have to find these 3 drivers in my device manager that i just cannot find on the internet! sm bus controller?

my device manager is posted above...
