Wifi adapter screwing up

I got it new and it works fine in my dads PC (its a usb adapter) but on my pc it seems to work fine then it'll sotp working, and it won't work in the same usb port I have to switch until the problem happens again, Its not the Os because my dads pc has the same Os and it works fine. (Windows 8.1), after it stops working my computer gives me repeatedly unrecognized/not working usb device even if the adapter is not plugged in

Does all other usb devices work ok all the time on that system? I would say it has something to do with the usb ports or power supplied to them.
