Hi again.

This has been a tricky one for me and I'm wondering if you can help?

Hi all.

Have just installed a fresh copy of Win7 Home.

It's a thing of beauty and no doubt, but I have one query that I couldn't find help with from 'Help and Support'.

When I boot up my laptop I would like it to auto connect to my Wifi router and then auto launch Firefox.

I can just about figure out how to auto-run firefox from the help files but I can't find out how to auto-connect to my router as the laptop starts up.

Can anyone give me the steps to set this up?

Thanks for your ideas in advance, Ste.

well on vista, once you connect to the router at the bottom off this page is says connect auto once computer is restarted or something like that.

once you setup the connection properly. windows 7 will connect to the router automatically. all my machines do. so is there a problem with yours?

it should automatically connect whenever the network is available.

as far as auto running firefox on startup just drag firefox into the "startup" folder in all programs

I've found that this isnt always the best idea however, because it tries to open firefox while its still initializing all the other features of the os and it can kill your boot time

maybe someone could help you with a batch script that would wait a min or two after startup and then run firefox, just to keep things light

Hi Ste

Is it a case of that you actually have to switch your WiFi 'on' on your laptop before it will connect or do you have to re-enter the wireless key in everytime?

Chris

You switch off your router and wireless adapter each time you shut off your computer?
Windows should store the password and connect if the router can be found everytime it bootup unless you switch off the wireless adapter or the router.

GO to "network and shearing center" , than click on "wireless network connections" , than "wireless properties" and than check box "connect automaticaly.... "
