Wifi issues

I had wifi issues at my house. Comcast came and put in a new router. I know the tech person added some stuff (Comcast Sites and Security) to my desktop. I don't know that he did anything to my config but I had wifi at home no problem. Sunday I flew and in the airline club I could not access wifi. I was connected and the strength was good/excellent but I could not get into a browser or email.

Now I am at my second house and the same issue. I can get online using the LAN but cannot thru the wifi. I am connected and the signal strength is excellent. What could be the matter?

My room mate can get the wifi to work so there is something wrong at my end.

Also at the airport, I could get Skype to work that's it.

Wait....so you cant get it to work at your house? Or tons of other places besides your house?

Sounds like your IP is hard set on your computer. Try changing it to Dynamic.

3rd one down

Then again you say you got skype to work, and if you were able to connect to their servers that would normally conclude nothings wrong with your connection. Also the # 1 problem iv seen with noobs that have laptops is they like to accidentally hit the wifi switch on there laptop. Then complain about not being able to see a network. Not saying that's your situation, but Iv got to mention it.

The head IT guy from my Bonaire cable provider came to my house here in the Caribbean. The Comcast tech had put a static address in my network wireless adapter if that makes sense? I have wifi now.
