Wifi module no detect

It's an old HP ProBook 4710s running windows 7 Pro 64bit and the Wifi is not coming up in the device manager. It's a new OS install so I downloaded all the drivers for that laptop off the HP website, the (Intel PRO/Wireless Drivers for Microsoft Windows 7) goes through the standard install procedure but when you click install it seems to install then the window box disappears assuming it has installed then back to the desktop.

Other than being a dead module what else can I try?
Is there another driver for the model: 112BNHMW WiFi Link 1000 I can try? The Driver seems to be hard to find other than on the HP website.
Yes I cleaned the contacts and inserted it in a couple of times.
Maybe in the bios settings?

Thanks guys really appreciate it :)

Does it list in the device manager anywhere as a network device or unknown device? If windows doesn't detect it then its not gonna install.

I'd install Windows 10 instead.

If your notebook isn't BIOS locked for hardware you can shove a 7265 in there for AC. I stuck one in my socket M laptop that has mini pcie like yours.

Maybe use a linux livecd as a quick check, that would isolate os/driver stack against the hardware module, if it's dead in both then it's dead.

This is the first thing to check. Especially if you are doing a clean install. IMHO I wouldn't worry about a new card, but would recommend using an USB Adapter instead (unless you don't want an external adapter) if it's not detected in Linux as Beers suggested.

The card may be a little less than an adapter, plus the advantage of an adapter you can use it on other computers if needed. :)
