Will 5.1 Speakers work with regular sound card. please help

Hello

I just got my Logitech Z-5300e 5.1 5-Piece Surround Sound PC and Gaming Speaker System and would like to ask would I have any problems with it with the regular sound blaster live sound card I have? It's not a 5.1 or anything special. It's just a regular sound blaster live card. Would you prefer if I should just go get the Sound Blaster Live 5.1 sound card? Please get back to me. Thank you in advance for your help.

newegg says it's 7.1 so I think you're fine http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102176, I don't know if there were other versions with fewer channels though

Im not sure if that is the sound card I have. I remember back in the days when I bought it, it was just sound blaster live. It's an very old card. I think it was like 10-12 years ago.

If it only has 3 ports, then that means there is only one port for your speakers vs the tradional 4. You can use it, but only the left and right speakers will work.

And also, if you bought the z-5300, dont use a 10-12 year old sound card, go out and buy at least a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card.
