I'm just about to buy some new DDR for my computer and i'm just making the final checks to make sure I buy ram that will work with my system.
I read that there is a maximum amout of ram each lot will take, and a maximum amout the board as a whole will take.
The motherboard manual says something like this:
----------------------------------------------
System Memory
-2 184pin DDR DIMM slots
-Supports 128/256/512 Mb technology up to 2Gb
-----------------------------------------------
This is where I got a bit confused.
If the board will take 2Gb and has 2 slots, -then you would assume that each slot will take 1Gb. (because 2 X 1 =2)
So home come it says: 128/256/512 Mb ???
I want to take out the current 256 sticks, put a 1Gb stick in on slot and then probably put another 1Gb stick in a years time.
