Will a damaged usb slot in the computer case ever cause damage to my computer?

Title. Will it damage the rest of my computer eventually? Thankfully it's not a mobo usb, it's a case usb. Answers appreciated.

If it's a case USB I'd advise just unplugging the header from your motherboard. I've had a mobo USB port short out and prevent my computer from starting. At the very least block it off with some tape so you don't bump it or use it.
