Will a P4, 2.8Ghz CPU work with my Blu-ray burner?

remember

I just got the Sony BWU-100A Blu-ray burner. The operating instructions say, the "System Requirements" are. . . Pentium 4, 3.0 GHz or faster.

I know its stupid to ask, but Im really eager to test out my burner, as it will take me at least another week to get a new computer built and going.

At the moment, I only have a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz. Despite what the op. instructions say, is there anyway I can make my beautiful Blu-ray work with the P4, 2.8Ghz cpu?

it may work, but may lag. i suggest overclocking, as I have a p4 2.8GHz with hyperthreading and I have it overclocked to 3.05Ghz.

Well... The fastest the drive could possibly go is 66.6MB/sec. So I can't see the processor being a bottleneck for actual read/write speeds. However, I bet those specs are more for playback and rendering rather than read/write access.

Forgot to mention its a Dell

I knew a forgot to say something. My computer with the P4, 2.8Ghz is a Dell;(Optiplex . . .w/some alphanumeric model number)

I got a bad feeling about this, but I remember somebody telling me that a Dell can not be overclocked? Please let me down gently.

Of course, Im hyped up to buy and build a new computer, but again, Im in love with my new Blu-ray burner and just jittering to try it out, asap.

Can I overclock my Dell system?

I dont understand what you mean? You say, "The fastest the drive could possibly go is 66.6MB/sec" Is that the speed my Blu-ray drive is "supposed" to go? or is that the speed that it would go, with my P4, 2.8Ghz system? and if that is the speed that the Blu-ray drive would go with my system, is it fast enough to just be able to watch a Blu-ray movie?

One last question. . . I just don't understand what you mean by "those specs are more for playback and rendering rather than read/write access"

At the moment, I just want to "watch" 1 or 2 Blu-ray movies. You say that "read"ing is different than "playback". If I pop in a Blu-ray movie on my P4, 2.8Ghz system, will I be "playing back" or "reading"? I dont understand what is the difference between playback and reading? Sorry for all the questions.
