Will adding second monitor decrease performance?

Alright so I currently have a 20 inch HP 1600 x 900 monitor. I'm thinking of tossing in a fullscreen (not widescreen) monitor as a second one. I will only be gaming on one monitor but may have Chrome or iTunes open in another. Will there be any detriment to my performance?

Specs below in sig.

Thanks!

No you will not any performance loss or gain at all. I ran multiple monitors for a year or so off several cards (8400 GS, GT 220 and GTS 450) and it didn't slow down my PC at all. If you're only gaming on one screen that won't make a difference either.

Alright thank you. I got the monitor. It was free from dad's office. Need to buy a dvi to VGA converter though as my card only has dvi but the monitor is VGA. Oh well 5 bucks for a monitor isn't bad.

I would think your GPU box has one. I got one with every GPU that I bought.

I love you forever. I totally forgot about that.

Edit: Got it hooked up with no issues. Smaller monitor is kinda dim but oh well.

No, you won't, and you can always turn it off by pressing windows key + P and choosing computer only rather than extend.
