Will an 8320 hold back any games?

yea it definitely depends on the game. if you were playing world of warcraft it would definitely bottleneck the 7970 as even my old 3570k did and its very dependent on single thread cpu performance unfortunately.

so it does depend largely upon the games you wish to play. which ones? (aside from arma of course)

Where was crossfire mentioned?

I just bought a 7970 to replace my 7850. That coupled with my 8320 I should be gaming fine for a while now.
If you planned on getting another one down the line.

Just examining all options.

Oh okay thanks. Yeah my motherboard has the second slot locked at x4 PCI E 2.0 so it wouldn't even be worthwhile.

And I actually don't play Arma, but I just know when I tried out DayZ (and hated it) it ran pretty poorly I felt for what it was.

yea dayZ is pretty heavily dependent on single threaded performance which will give the haswell lineup an enourmous advantage over your processor

Yeah, I think with the latest patches it can use as many core as you have. Don't know how efficient.
