Will Gateway Solo 2150 handle 98SE to Win XP?

Solo 2150 maxed out at 160 RAM , just 12 g HD , Intel Celeron processor.
Would like to upgrade to Win XP and do following functions:
wifi internet
wifi print share over home router

I have not felt comforatble with the tech responses from Gateway support. They seem more interested in selling me stuff . Ex : I asked if I could upgrade from original 96 RAM, and they sold to me a 256 RAM stick. Once installed, MoBo only recognized 160. A second call to Gateway said "too bad, max at 160. "
I called again regarding upgading to Win XP, and could not get a straight answer. I hope that this forum has the expertise to guide me as to whether the 160 RAM and Celeron processor will handle my needs ( simultaneous wifi print and wifi internet while running MSCFT 2000 word).
Any comments?

First off, Windows 98 can handle both Wifi and print sharing. But yes, that machine should run Windows XP. It won't run it well, but it meets the requirements.

please clarify - "not run well "

Thank you for tyhe feedback.

I'm not well versed in this area and would appreciate understanding what you mean by "not run well."
What would I experience ?

I am frustrated that my current Win 98 OS does not open many compressed zip files nor adobe acrobat items. I tried downloading adobe and winzip -- still, nothing gets opened .

Additionally , HP informed me that my HP printer model 4215 All-in - One Officejet printer does not support wifi print sharing unless both computers have the exact same version of Windows . Apparently, the mix of Win 98 and Win XP does not work , as per HP tech.

So I am motivated to upgrade to Win XP on the Gateway Solo 2150 if the upgrade will work .
Where will the problems arise ?
Will the system lockup and give me more problems ?

What would you experience? Just VERY long load times. XP really needs around 256MB RAM to run well, but only requires about 64MB to run at all.

The OS shouldn't make any difference in the ability to open compressed files and PDF's as you still use the same software on both...

Well... I've never tried to use such a printer, but I know Windows 98 will support Wifi if configured correctly. I had a 75MHz laptop on wifi a few years back  But what you're refering to is, perhaps, more software dependent. Technically, it should work, but they probably just don't support 98...

I don't see there being any problems other than slow performace. Just be sure you can find all the drivers. Typically this isn't a problem, many may be supported by XP without additional software.
