will i be able to overclock well with the AMD 790GX chipset? please help me

Hi,

I am thinking about getting a mother board with the 790GX chipset.

I plan to overclock my Phenom II X4 955 to 4.2ghz... will the 790GX chipset allow me to overclock that far? or will i need a 790FX to get to those speeds?

Depends on what board your getting. Even with the same chipset, some overclock better than others. The 790GX is the same chip as the 790X with onboard video added. But you better get a good CPU cooler and plan on cracking up the CPU voltage to get 4.2ghz.

Im new to overclocking... when i go in bios, does the better chipset give me more over clocking options/speeds?

Well unless your wanting onboard video, I would get this one. On Gigabyte there is not really much difference in the bios setting between the 790X/GX/FX.

If you get the Gigabyte, after you open the bios. If you hit keys Ctrl and F1 more overclocking features open up.
