Will Microsoft ever release ANYTHING?

Grr... There's just so many people that think Windows == computer, Internet Explorer == Internet, and Outlook (Express) == Email... They're all using this trash. Supposedly, M$ has solutions that actually look reasonably good to make it fast, secure, and whatnot... Where is it? And, why does it look like Windows Vista == (3/4)Mac OS/X and (1/4)*NIX, Internet Explorer 7 == Safari + Firefox, and Outlook == Thunderbird?

your touching on a massive subject thats been discussed in gross detail amny times before, in every thread like this it turns out to be concluded that MS are good you couldnt do without them, if they were not company then we wouldnt be in the current state of prgress we are now. Im not open to argue with this cos its an old topic, its been said so many times.

Well, I was just informed yesterday by someone who is up on software stuff that MS just scrapped 60% of the coding for Vista, and is starting over from scratch. How's that for fun? :) Oh, and I agree with dragon, but I find that usually MS just does a better job of advertising and networking with other companies to get their products on the market. Can anyone say open source? :) (The original battle between MS and Apple)

Grr...........
yea it's weird though... like windows media player 11 is comming out with windows vista... i thought windows media player 11 should have came out last yr or a few months ago and windows media player 12 should come out with vista...
i mean windows media player 10 is what? 2 years old? shouldn't there be like a one year gap between these things?

heard that too because they got some feedback from the trialing stuff

On Vista, I think since Intel and Microsoft are butt buddies that Microsoft is puttin off Vista till Intel is on even foot with AMD on 64bit, If Vista was put out last year all Name brand computers would have to have AMD for 64bit, that woud have put Intel sales through the floor, who would want Vista running on a 32bit P-4, Microsoft is not going to let there BUDDY INTEL eat dust

microsoft stands to lose the most from such a stupid idea... nothing like that will ever happen. i dont think microsoft are gonna hold off their OS just because intel are having a little blip on their map... microsoft have already plunged 5 billion into the developement of vista (from what i remember) i dont think they're gonna throw more money at it unless they have to.

i dont see intel exactly posting losses because AMD are doing well

Well, who knows, microsoft might have learned there leason this time. Everytime they release something, it has mass amounts of bugs. *Cough* Xbox*Cough *Xbox 360* Cough *There operating systems *Cough* Etc.

So who knows, maybe there going to get rid of most of the bugs.

I would have never thought of that! I believe that you are 100% correct! Maybe because Microsoft has a little time for Intel to make their 64-bit CPU's, it can scrap the things that wern't working and improve on them. That's probably why the got rid of 60% of the OS

Dunno, I won't be getting any of it until the hype and excitement about them is long gone. It will be alot cheaper and alot of weird quirks and bugs will have been addressed, making the switch easier on me at least.

This can be said about alot of software though. I mean wasn't HL2 delayed FOREVER! How many other games and related things get delay after delay after delay...

Yea, plus when Dell and AMD where it talks this year about running AMDs in Dells and most of it fell through, right after Microsoft comes out and says it will now be the first of 2007 before Vista comes out

i think that is something we all can agree on lol hahahaha
yeh, i'll get it when it comes out, up until then i'll have xp, more maybe linux if i had another pc that was capable of runnig it.

Personally i don't really like windows, i would have linux but then i can't be bothered to be searching for ages and ages for drivers to all my stuff. Although if someone just gave me a disk with drivers/software for the following things on:
Canon LiDe 60
Palm z22
Apple ipod
Kodak CX7530
Hp Photosmart 145
Happauge WIN TV Nova-T
Sitecom WL-115 wireless PCI card

i would be getting linux on my pc faster than the vista BETA install :P

Lee :D
