Will my motherboard be able to handle a Quad-Core?

Unfortunately, your board does not support quadcores. the Intel 945G chipset is quite old. you can however upgrade to a better dualcore, as long as it is a 65nm one.

they are not manufactured anymore so you will have to buy used, or maybe some stores will have old stock.

You cant use your Intel processor with and AMD board, both use different architectures

I think it's best you get a new computer. how much are you looking to spend if you were going to buy a new one?
