Will My Motherboard support a C2Q?

lol
HERE we go again!

*I can read those sites that you read, I KNOW they do not list the Quad Core....just because it doesnt LIST it doesn't necessarily mean it will not work...like I SAID ABOUT 3 TIMES :
"the motherboard is older than Quad Cores: therefore it would NOT BE ABLE TO have "Quad Core" listed there BECAUSE they were not AROUND"

so since I have a 775 mobo, and the quad core is a 775 cpu -will they work together? or will it not work and why not?....I know they will fit together - just will they actually WORK together? I personally do not see/know why they would NOT work -but I was looking for someone with some actual EXPERIENCE with this not just someone repeating the above stated....

SO BASICALLY - SINCE THEY ARE BOTH SOCKET 775 WONT THEY WORK? Or is there a requirement for quad core on my motherboard? (I.e. certain nb /sb ....etc ?.)..............

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! I AM GETTING THE SAME RESPONSES over and over with no confirmation other than "oh well, they dont MENTION quad cores so it cant work!"-because I do not believe that is right....at least its not the right answer for me...

Thanks all for your help / attempts to help...just hope someone can really help me out now:

Relax chief. That is all the information we can provide you with. If you can find someone else with the same board then please do so. I recommend that you try to contact some type of hot line for the company that makes your board. It could be that the board architecture is different than what Quad Core requires. I'm sure if it was usable as a Quad Core board, Newegg would update it.

actually I am quite relaxed -
but yet, Newegg only posts the information given to them from the manufacturer (I called them about things before and that is what they have told me).....so therefore: if it did support quad cores -they would not update it unless if the manufacturer updated it....in which case they have not...

Well either way you look at it, someone would update it, or at least inquire about it. Whether it be Newegg or the manufacturer telling them. I would just say no to Quad Core. You don't want to damage the CPU or the board. So there are two options. Await for confirmation from somebody that Quad Core is compatible, or get a Core2.
