Will my motherboard support core 2 duo?

Hey, I have a small question to ask. My PC that i bought about 3 years ago this christmas, had a motherboard called "ATX I915P".

My question is, will it support Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40GHz 4MB FSB1066?

I'm not really good at computers, so please don't flame me calling me a noob and such!

EDIT: I use a GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB, so if my motherboard can handle that, it should be able to handle a Core 2 Duo, wouldn't it?

Because your motherboard uses the Intel 915 chipset, you need at least an Intel 945 chipset or greater for Core 2 Duo support, however not all 945/955 support them.
 
Well 3 years ago dual core cpu's didn't exist on the consumer level. A mobo can't be built to support something that doesn't exist yet. The link I gave is a list of all compatible processors with your mobo.

Oh okay, well guess i'll have to buy a new one. Can you recommend a specific motherboard?
 
If you are going to only use one 8800GTS, try this one:

However, if you might plan to use two of your 8800GTS, look for motherboard with 680i chipset, like:

What makes you say that? I mean AFAIK, the difference between the two GIGABYTE boards are just DS3R have raid control and more SATA ports.

I am debating whether to get DS3L or DS3R myself. :P
