atm ive got a Tagan TG530-U22 and i want it to be able to power a intel i7 and a 4850 i think it will be more than able to what you guys think

Could possibly handle it, if it where a name brand. I wouldn't try it, get a 650 or better.

650 watts for a core i7 and one 4850?!? That's overkill. I've never really heard anything about Tagan, but I imagine it would get you by for a while. If you can, get something like a 500 or 550 watt from Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, OCZ, or any reputable brand like those. With that you'll be fine, plus enough overhead for something like a second 4850, or other peripherals.

well I know that,I am just confused about why I was told min of 500 for the 8800GT...I guess you could try it, just don't blow nothin up!!

yeah but if its not enough power it just wont work will it or will it blow up if under powered, because if it blows up underpowered im not gonna risk it i might aswell get the best PSU i can get

One of two basic things will hapeen: either it WIL blow up on you, possibly destroying your entire computer, or it just dies, and won't work, which is why I recommened getting 650. It probably is over kill, like ethan said, but then you will also be safe for future upgrades.

That's a very safe estimate for those who use horrible 500 watt power supplies. I know there are people here who run a 9800gt on 380watt antec, and Kornowski runs 2 8800GTS's, which are more power hungry than the 4850, on a 520watt Corsair.

You should be fine with that for a while, but I would recommend getting a new one if you can. Something in the 500-600 watt range from a reputable brand, as previously mentioned, will definitely be enough.
