Will ram DDR2 800 MHz work on Toshiba l40/l45?

Hello,
Like is in title, I am wondering if DDR2 800 MHz works on my laptop?
Currently I have DDR2 667 MHz and I would like to upgrade my computer.

Is that in the Satellite series? The only reference at their support site simply shows DDR2 memory. The reference of 533/667/800 is seen at shopping sites for the L40, L45 model number. 2gb max. Look at the specifications found on the manufacturer's product information and support pages. First you have to know the make and model and look it up there or sometimes a quick search will see specifications listed accurately at a vendor.

I thought DDR2 800Mhz would work in any laptop? If the laptop cannot handle it, doesn't it just run the memory at a slower clock (put 800Mhz RAM in a TravelMate 2492WLMi, and it only ran at 667Mhz, because of a motherboard limitation). I'm not 100% sure here though, so if I'm wrong, please correct me.

If the memory is one speed over what is supported of the same type of sodimm it would. But you haven't listed the make and model you have there for a look at the specs to what it takes. Is that 533, 667, 800 or 667, 800, 1066? Those ranges will see 800 run as 800.
