When i bought my computer a little over a year ago ,

it was a speed demon

When you click star and click a program or wait for a menu there was no waiitn for menus or any application now , its sluggish and its dissapointing me

I have run online virus scans, norton virus and even cc cleaner and it gets rid of what I dont need, at least the ccleaner does, and none of the virus scanners have detected any viruses and adware se , detects no spyware

how do you go about wiping everythying CLEAN , and starting over with the disk that I got with my computer

I know what you mean by that stuff. I reformat my computer every once in a while just cuz I get fed up with the sluggish startups and random crap all over the place.

I have an alienware so it came with "alien respawn" which reformats the entire hard drive. It is very useful and convenient.

I really wouldn't know how to go about it without that disk.. just google "reformatting a PC" and see what you come up with.

yes it will give your pc a new lease of life , first of back up email adresses and any important documents you have on the pc to cd or dvd dont forget you will lose everything when you reinstall windows! secondly if it is a recovery cd you got with the pc you will need to go into bios the way to do that differs from pc to pc most requires you to keep tapping the del key on boot up, anyway when you get into bios find the section that mentions boot priority i.e. first boot device second boot device e.t.c, set the first boot device to cdrom open the cdrom drive and place the recovery cd in it then save and exit when your pc boots it should give a option to boot from cd,
then just follow the on screen prompts.
p.s. if the cd you got with the pc is a genuin windows copy and not a recovery cd do the same as above but make sure you have the mobo driver cd as well .

oh well never mind , i dont want to screw it up anymore than it already is , I thought it might be as simple as making back ups of stuff i want to keep them just putting the xp cd in and re doing it lol

re-doing it can help alot.. erase spyware n stuff, but if you have important stuff that you cangt get off that compy then i wouldnt touch it.
