Well my computer is really slow.
I have these registrycleaner ads that keep poping up.
A lime wire thing keeps coming up.(i deleted everything form limewire i could find)
Aol keeps opening itself(i know aol) Im new to this stuff.
Even if I close evrything out it comes back up.
I have windows xp home.
I have an xp cd but the key code wont work.
I cant afford to buy a new cd so reformating is out of the question.
I have ran spybot and adawre a million times.(again im poor)

Does anybody have anyideas?
I have to computers hooked up so I can be online and work on the other at the same time.Somebody else was helping me we fixed it a little but nowhere near enough.

Thank you

The first thing that I would do would be to open the task manager and see how many processes you are running. Sometimes running too many processes can really slow things down. Find the processes of the programs that you know, and leave them alone, but if you find some that you don't recognize, see if you can find out what program is causing them to run, and then eliminate that program. Also, you can go through your control panel and go to add or remove programs to see a list of all of the programs that are installed, and if you don't recognize things there either, then you can delete them there as well. As far as your XP CD key goes, you can call Microsoft any time and they will give you a new one. If you know any one that has a key that works for them, you might be able to use that. Those keys are not specific to that CD itself, the key just has to match one that it is Microsofts database, so pretty much any key that you can find should work as long as it is for XP. let me (us) know if any of this helped, and if you have any more problems.

You need to do a spyware search... BUT if you want to do a reformat just use the cdkey you currently are using. (assuming you did purchase it) There are programs for retriving the cd key in use on your pc.

Do you want to clean or reformat?
If reformat, do you want to save anything on your pc?

Thats not really legal, and if Microsoft finds 2 copy's of the same key being used they will shut it down, so then the person you got the key from and the other copy will not work in the future. And believe me, Microsoft will see it!

I dont remember how to get the task manager up?
I did it the other day.

Also if i post a list of everything thats in my add/remove programs thing. Will you tell me what all I can delete?
The only things I want on my pc period are aol, internet explorer, my camera software, sound driver, video driver and the modem driver. That is it nothing else.

Nothing comes up when I hit ctrl=alt=delete.
Yes im doing it rite. I went through this before and somebody told me another way to get it open.

Sorry, but I'm serious. This is like running Seafoam through an 20 year old car that's been fed bad gas for years.

REFORMAT

Get everything important offa there, and pop the CD in, and watch the viruses and spyware wash away.

Ok so i got into my task manager.
There are 25 processes running is that bad?
Is there any way I can copy the list and post it here for you to see?

Let's see what's going on here:

Please download the HijackThis installer from http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe.

Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

When the Notepad window opens choose Edit -> Select All to select the entire log, and copy and paste the log into a reply post.
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I see you've already posted a logfile in the Security section at http://www.computerforum.com/102477-slow-pc-pop-ups-hijackthis-log-file-3.html

Please run the scans I've asked for and respond there. I really need to know whether or not you have that infection before I can proceed any further in fixing your problems.

If you have your CD key and wish to reformat, you can try contacting Microsoft, and they may be able to send you a replacement CD, with only a small postage fee. Is it your CD Key or your CD that you've lost?

no its illegal

Bah, microsoft, what a bunch of ***** *** *8* lhefdlkwhanfilkhqawflkhjn

Anyway, the big problem is that if the CD/DVD is an "HP" or "Compaq" it just plain won't work, due to the MB.

It's such crap that a version of windows whatever can be tied to the machine so that you can't use it on another, even if you dismantle or discontinue using the old machine, at least not without a hassle.
