Hello everyone how are you doing
My router at home, is dead. The "power on" standby light on the router, will not turn up, no matter what.
This isn't a router which i purchased on my own, I subscribe to an unlimited broadband connection from Vodafone, and this is what Vodafone gave me, free of cost. Called up Vodafone, and they sent an on-site tech over to my place yesterday. The tech confirmed the modem is dead. Called up Vodafone tech support again, made the on-site tech speak to them, and they agreed to send me another modem for free, after they confirm it has not been subjected to user-abuse. And that would take, believe it or not, 3 working days! Saturdays and Sundays are NOT considered working days here in India, so I guess i won't be getting a replacement before Monday or Tuesday.
5 days without the internet, is terrible.
I have 2 smartphones, one a Nokia E7 (Nokia Belle FP1) and another a Nokia Lumia 920 (WP8).
I've subscribed to a tethering plan, got the E7 connected to this laptop, and it seems to be working (m typing this using the E7 modem).
The problem is, after using it for a couple of hours, the phone starts to heat up. After about 5 hours, the phone runs hotter than the laptop itself, which is kinda weird. A friend told me if i keep using the E7 this way, i'll kill its battery. The battery on the E7, is not user replaceable, and it it dies, i'll need to drop the phone to a Nokia Care point, which would be expensive, and time-consuming.
So here's what I need to know, if there's someone here who knows stuff about cell phones (i admit, i don't know much about cell phones, i carry the laptop everywhere, and purchased the Lumia 920 just for its bright color and big screen, don't even have a data pack activated on the Lumia), can you please tell me if I use my E7 this way for the next 5 days, will i be permanently damaging the battery? Is there something I can do to keep it from heating up? It's really weird, the phone is heating up more than the laptop!
