as of right now im limited on money, but i can JUST afford this:

the reason that interests me is im sitting with a 3.34 ghz 6400+, but my bored will support am3 but that one is am2+ so i can be sure it will work good. Im stuck with my ddr2 800mhz ram for now, but i might get either ddr 1066 soon until i can afford a nicer board. with the rig in my sig, do you guys think getting that phenom will be a significant change?

nah i dont plan on factoring that into this. i have the money to buy it and im prepared to, but only if i will see a significant change with my same system otherwise. i also plan to overclock.

well, i ended up getting it. i wasnt worried on upgrades, ddr2 1066 is cheap and my board supports it. that will be my next upgrade. by the time i do a significant upgrade, i was planning on upgrading the processor anyways so...

lets hope im satisfied with the results!

wish me luck haha

With luck next round of phenoms compare to the new Intel chips coming out at the same time.

im hoping so. i love amd's price/performance ratio. but if they dont compare, and id spend roughly 200 more for a better processor and mobo than i would on a new amd chip and mobo... then so be it. intel will have me sold

Phenom II = Awesome Upgrade
X4 = Awesome Upgrade for Multitaskers. If you're looking to save money for moderate gaming and everyday use, then get a dual-core. If you want, you could go tri-core, but I don't like those so much.

well im hoping it will do me better than just more multitasking, im currently bottlenecked by my cpu, my graphics card is alittle choked. im hoping to really release its fury with this x4!
