I'm about to buy these, but I just looked at the online manual for the motherboard. It said supports vista/xp. Does that mean I can't use windows 7?
Also, will this ram the following ram work?

Yes the Windows 7 will work, there are probably drivers for it on Gigabyte's website. And the ram looks compatible too.

What AMD processor are you getting with the components you are buying? DDR3 1600 RAM and Windows 7 will work with that motherboard.

It depends on the Phenom II 955 Processor you get. There is a Phenom II 955 that has C3 stepping and one that has C2 Stepping. The Phenom II 955 that has C3 stepping may require you to flash the motherboard BIOS. The other will work fine with the GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard.

It depends on the Phenom II 955 Processor you get. There is a Phenom II 955 that has C3 stepping and one that has C2 Stepping. The Phenom II 955 that has C3 stepping may require you to flash the motherboard BIOS. The other will work fine with the GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard.

If you don't want to possibly mess with a BIOS flash I would look at another processor. Take a look at the Phenom II 720 Tri-Core (2.8 gigahertz) Processor. The Phenom II 720 is very powerful and will work with your chosen motherboard.

How do you know that I wouldn't have to do a bios update with the 720? lol

Look at the processor support list for the motherboard I previously gave you. All these present motherboards have at least a level F1 BIOS. As Gigabyte releases new motherboards it updates them with a new BIOS (F2, F3 and so forth). The Phenom II 720 Processor requires only an F1 BIOS. If it does not work when you put it together you did something wrong or have a failed component.

I believe the 955 is a C2 version, so I may just get that one instead. Flashing the bios can't be too hard anyways.

Flashing a BIOS isn't hard but make sure you know what you are doing. If you try to load the wrong BIOS or do something else wrong you can ruin your motherboard.

There are two Processors on newegg.com: one is $10 more so I imagine that one is the C3 stepping. Maybe anyways.
