Need opinions on this computer -- good, bad, ugly.

This will be my primary computer. I will take it to school with me every day, and will be connecting to the net from it at school, as well as doing all my homework on it. I'll be doing my picture editing on it also, as well as watching the occasional DVD.

Will this be adequate for my needs? Overkill? Let me know if you have any better suggestions...I am on a pretty small budget and need to stay right around $1000.

That looks pretty decent, but you can get a similar laptop for around $700 or cheaper through HP/Compaq. I would lean towards the Pentium M if you can afford it, since it has very good battery life.

This one is about $800 from HP/Compaq ;)

I'm also looking at an Apple iBook...the 14 inch one. Any opinions on Mac vs. PC? I think I would prefer the Mac, but I don't know how to justify the extra money...

well since you will be taking it to school, i wuld get a mac. macs are very good college laptops. macs are easier to run, not as many problems(usually). for wat you are doin, get the mac.
