will this graphics card be okay with my PC?

Hey guys i'm in the process of building a new computer for gaming, but i am not ready to buy the whole set up yet, so i was thinking i could buy a video card in the mean time that i am going to use in the new system and just put it into my old computer for better performance, and when i'm ready to build my new system i will just take it back out. is it advisible?

the card in question is the Sapphire Radeon HD6850

I currently have a Dell Dimenion e520, Pentium D (KU189 Processor, 915, 2.8, 2X2MB Pentium D Presler, D0) on 2g of ram. the current graphics card on it is (UJ973 Card, Graphics, 256, X1300 MRMGA+2) when i googled it, it came up as a ATI Radeon x1300 pro.

Any advice would be great

Don't spend any more money on that computer, it's obsolete and outdated.

Be lucky if it fit. Plus you would need a better power supply.
