Ok so the Modem is in my parents room, hooked up to their computer. (comcast)

I have a computer in my room that I just bought for gaming, with no internet yet. (My room is about 25ft away from the modem)

I am planing to hook this router up to the modem:

Then I will install this card into my computer:

Will the connection run from my parents room to my room without any problems?

It will depend on other factors too such as

  • walls-how many/thickness the signal has to go through
  • other wireless products that can cause interference such as baby monitors, cordless phones etc - all which work on a similar frequency to each other.
but the router/PCI card looks fine to me bud ;)

well its not really going through walls, pretty much through a hall way, through my doorway, and the cmoputer is right there, so it might not be affected that much

sounds like a perfect setup for a wireless system to me then :)

is there any chance you could use ethernet connection instead? or is not having a cable running along skirting board the whole reason behind the wireless?

well yea my dad (the asshole of the family) doesnt like cords running around the house, so I chose the wireless option

There IS one more wireless option available to you :)

Home Ethernet:-

It's an adaptor that plugs in the home power socket with an ethernet socket on it and you then plug another adaptor in the room/rooms power socket where the computers are with an ethernet lead running from the adaptor to the pc you wish to connect :) it runs at around 85MBpS which while not being as fast as ethernet cable(100MBpS) it is much faster than wireless connection(54MBpS) and works on any plug socket in the houses wiring as long as they are on the same circuit ;)
