Hey, tryin to find a good laptop for gaming/school. My desktop is old enough to where it'd probly be easier to simply buy a new one. Sony vaio seems to be the popular choice, here are the specs i wanna try, any suggestions?

Intel® Core™ i7-740QM processor (1.73GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz
#
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
#
500GB Hard Disk Drive (7200rpm) (Reg. price $105.00)
#
4GB (2GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1333
#
CD/DVD player/burner
#
16.4" VAIO Display (1600x900)
#
NVIDIA® GeForce® 330M GPU (1GB VRAM)

Nice specs, why don't you just build/buy a new desktop? It would be cheaper and more powerful. Unless portability is an issue? Budget?

budget is around 1k. problem is i dont have internet at home, so even if i upgrade my desktop, i wouldnt be able to game on it, however i work and go to school in town, so i'd like the portability to be able to game online while i'm in town. budget is.... debatable... the cheaper the better, but pref nothing over 1500. only gonna be without internet for a few months, so if i can upgrade my pc for cheap, i can give up online gaming for the time being.

not sure exactly haha, but the processor is pretty strong, i KNOW i need a new graphics/video card, i could use a lil more ram, and i might have to get some more hard drive space. the desktop itself is about 4 years old.

not very helpful, i know haha.

Actually in class right now haha. But i will def get it in here sometime today. I'll get back to ya once i get it goin. Thanks for the help so far.

To put it simply, that laptop will run anygame there is for pc today, without even breaking a sweat.:good:

Oopsy :P You do that :) I agree with comment above, but would still advise a desktop if portability isn't an issue

Lenovo ideapad's are actually poor in quality, the thinkpad's are nice but the ideapad are know for a poor build and cheap hardware.
