Will this work on HP Compaq D530?

What kind of D530? Tower, slim, or flat?

They may require a BTX-style PSU. What is the PSU model currently installed (can you open the case and read any numbers)?

Hmmm...well, the PSU you linked to won't work in that case. The layout of the case will require the PSU to be replaced with the same model. You could try calling HP and ordering one, or seeing if a HP Dealer can get a hold of one, might be pricey though.

If you think you can handle it, you could get the a new case and just move all the components from the D530 into it. That way, a standard ATX-style PSU would be compatible since there's much more room. Depending on how much the proprietary PSU is from HP, the case-transfer and buying a PSU might be cheaper, if not a bit more time-consuming.

I like the computers that eliminate the power supply and just has an adaptor and a "brick" (kind of like a laptop's configuration). There is a little box with a fan that has a little board that distributes power throughout the machine like a power supply, except it isn't. Lenovo ThinkCentres (the tinier desktop ones) use this design.

Some has all its power capabilities right on the motherboard. However, this can be a problem, as if this was to fail, the whole board would be bad.

I do have a spare case, therefore considering moving all the parts into it, but just wanted to make sure I am buying compatible PSU. So you think I should go for the linked PSU right? :)

It should work, yes. The PSU your system takes in an ATX-style (the most common). The only problem with it as it stands now is the size vs. your current case. If you transplanted everything into a standard ATX (mid or full) case, there would be room for any standard ATX PSU.

Just make sure your MoBo has a standard P4 connector (little square power port near the Socket to power the CPU) and not something proprietary. If it has a standard one, then go for it:)
