Will this work?

I think so, cause I know in my bios there's the option to boot from a usb device, but I would probably not recommend it, other than just to say you did it
 
yea... i have a 2.1GB harddrive that i test out operating systems on to see if i like them or not... and XP worked fine... but ur only gona be able to boot with it... ur gona have to install programs on a another harddrive unless they are small programs... cus u don't want to fill the harddrive to the brim... u wanna give some space for recycled and temporary files and stuff like that
