Willamette Core

I have a 1.7 Ghz Celleron Willamette core, with a 1.75 volt core, and I would like to find a board for it, how do you know if the board specifically supports the chip if it does not say? I have tried looking up and researching the chipset, becuase the last board I tried the VIA chipset could not supply enough voltage to the CPU. If the manufacturer does not say weither or not the board supports Willamette core, and does say that it supports Celerons then the board should support it right? So I need help finding a board for my processor, it is socket 478.

Yes it is. That's just a classic case of me not reading :P Ok nowing that, any motherboard that supports 400MHZ "FSB" will support the whillimette although you should prolly try and find a 800/533/400 for a bit of forward compatability :) The 1.75 shouldnt be a problem.

willamette came in 478? I could have sworn it was 423
heehee i remember asking that question once :P The socket 478 whillies were *very VERY* scarce tho and restricted to effectively the 2.0Ghz really (hence all hubbub about 2.0 and 2.0A at the time :)

If im not horribly mistaken you'll be stuck with SDR or RD ram? So i dunno, those boards are scarce enough as it is

no no its not a 423 it is in fact a 478, and i have some DDR just laying around, i just need a board for it the celeron
