Hey guys,

This morning, my taskbar decided to not work at all. Clicking on the Win start menu gave me nothing, not even the right click. None of my quick launch icon loaded and I could only the notification icon on the right. So I spent a couple of hours trying to fix this, tried the ones I found online (restarting explorer.exe and the PowerShell fix which I couldn't make it to work anyway).

I tried one last thing before re-installing Windows: CCleaner. I cleaned files which I'm sure isn't what fixed the taskabar, but I also cleaned the registry. I restarted and it started working again.

My guess is that this error is in the registry. Any idea?

Out of curiosity, did you ever restart in your initial troubleshooting before CCleaner?

If I'm not mistaken, you have Avast correct? There has been some issues with Avast and windows 10, one of them being the start menu won't work properly. Once you uninstall Avast, it should work. Then reinstall Avast.

Yes I did, quite a few times actually.

Yep I use Avast, but I didn't had to uninstall it to make it work again, just a cleaning of the registry... It started a few hours after I installed UFRaw but I don't think this is what caused the issue.

I had the same problem today and instead of uninstalling Avast, I chose the "Repair" function. After rebooting the computer, everything worked fine. But it was definitely related to Avast.
