I have an old low horsepower (Compaq Presario 128 RAM ,Pentium II) system that I would like to make wireless , specifically for satellite laptop internet functions .
I believe that I can not put XP on the low power system and run it well due to the high power requirements . Additionally , if I were to purchase XP ,I might as well purchase a better horsepower system.
In the meantime -- I just learned that I have first edition of win 98 on the old system and require 2nd ed win 98 to add "Motorola brand router 802.11g model WR850G " .
1. Is there a simple cost effective way of making the system wireless ?
2. Can I inject a device between my cable internet feed which will then allow wifi laptops while I still have a hard wired feed from the router to the old desktop with win 98 first edition ?
3. Can I upgrade to Win 98 2nd Edition from a Microsoft website w/o bulldozing all of my files ?
