hello frnds
i purchase a new laptop of hp pavalion dm4 1041tx with win 7 inside but i want to install win xp and its driver i tried win xp but i got blue screen error and i check hp site no drivers for win xp--hp providing drivers only for win 7 only what is the way and what should i do plz co-operate
thanks

you got the blue screen error because you have a Sata hard drive and XP does not have a native Sata driver. You will have to find the Sata driver from HP and use it to install XP. I would suggest either putting the Sata on a flashdrive or get a cheap USB floppy drive to install it.

You will probably have to search long and hard to find the drivers for your Hardware, but you will be able to find it. Just don't be turned away by the direct from HP lack of drivers, Most of them can be found from other places.

It would't hurt to check the bios and see if you can run it in ide mode instead of ahci. Then you should have no problem installing it.

wolfe is correct. Just Google anything like "sata on XP" and you will get many results.

On finding individual XP drivers. Yes that is a long search. Look for same or similar hardware on system running XP and try those drivers. It is very possible you will never get full functionality. That seems to be more the the further along we get.

Why do you want XP? If you absolutely must have I believe W7 Pro can emulate XP. That is likely the simplest solution.

Good luck.

I doubt you will get XP installed with all drivers needed to run it correctly. Finding XP drivers may make you pull your hair out. I would not try installing XP on the hard drive that came with the laptop. You will lose access to your windows 7 and then if you can't get xp installed correctly then you will have to revert back to 7. Use a different hard drive to test install XP. You should be able to find an older hard drive compatible with your laptop at a computer repair shop for cheap, as they usually keep them to sell.
