Win XP in new Hard Drive on Current Win 98 System

I currently have a Dell 8100 1.3 GHz with Windows 98.
I'm thinking of doing the following:
Add another hard drive as master
Install Win XP Pro on the new hard drive.
Keep the old HD as slave (D: drive).

Can I do this and...
1. Manually unplug the new drive with XP and reboot with the old drive with 98?
2. Access all programs that I had on the D: drive as long as I re-route the shortcuts, etc?

Or are there any other complications?

1. No need to do that....just ensure the old drive is the slave drive.
2. Yep you will be able to acess all your programs on that drive. Make new shortcuts if needed pointing to the old "D" drive.
