Win XP reinstall

Hi,

Some time ago my Windows Xp stopped working due to some data which were lost during cleaning proccess done by CCLEANER.
If I start the computer it continuesly restarts itself at a time when the first loading sequence of Windows XP should appear, so I suppose the Current Instalation of Win XP will not work again.

The main problem is that If I insert a Win XP (SP2) CD and reboot the comp. There appears an option to start a new instalation of the system. If I agree with it the (I click to start the instalation) but nothing else appears. I let this proccess for 15 minutes but even then nothing happened.

What shall I do with the comp. One possibility is to insert the C: drive into some else computer and there format it but I would prefer solving the problem in current machine.

Thank you for your time...

Your problem might not be with CCleaner. I had a computer a few weeks ago that a friend brought me to work on and it was doing the same thing . It was infected with a virus and I had to reformat to get rid of it.First have you tried to do a system restore to an earlier date before the problem started? Also did you set the bios to boot from the disk when trying to reformat ?

I had no time to restore the system it became not working suddenly... There might be a possibility that I accidently removed important Win XP files from the C: drive.

Yes I have set the booting process from CD and I cant even get into FAILSAFE...

Does the hard drive make any clicking noise upon start up ? It could be that your drive has gone bad. Try to put it in another PC as a slave and see if you can get in it that way or if you have a external case that would work too.

The drive is OK I can access all Windows data from Linux... Actually there wont be a problem to format the C: from Linux but I am looking for some sollution which might make Windows work again without the format.
