Win32.Skynet.Q Trojan!

Hi Guys,

It seems there is a trojan on my computer - that seems to be not letting anything run .. My MSN keeps crashing, explorer keeps crashing, etc.

I'm using the latest updated version of NOD32 and it doesn't seem to be picking it up at all - I've googled and using the removal tool from Symantec site ( the exe file) and doesn't seem to work either (it didn't find anything after I ran it):

Here is a screenshot of what pops up:

Does anyone know how to help with this? Has anyone encountered this problem before? I think I should reformat my c: and reinstall windows, however all my files are on my d: (ie I got two seperate hard drives).

Will this still affect the files on my d:?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Hey icky, is your operating system Windows XP?

I also had the same problem, and I followed the advice of one them Yahoo users. If you do have Windows XP, you must find the hidden google folder where the dll. and exe. files are located. It is these two folders which are causing all the problems. You have to login using another account with admin. priviledges because you cannot delete the folder while you are using the account that is infected. Create a new one if you have to.

C:\Documents and Settings\'Your username (the infected one)'\Application Data\Google is where you will find it. Check the show hidden files box so the Application folder appears. Delete the Google folder, if you open it you will find the dll and the exe folder. One of them has a bunch of numbers.

Log back into the original account. Go to Start, run, type in regedit. Under the edit command, click find, and type in windpipe. Delete all entries that contain the name. It worked for me. Hope this helps ;)

Cheers
