Window 7 - MS Office 2003 or XP software

I bought a new computer but couldn't afford to get the MS Office software. I was going to load my XP software I have but was told it was not compatible with the new windows 7. Is this true? If so is the MS 2003 software compatible?

Also when I burn my docs to a disk and reload them can viruses be transferred?
 
there are XP software that are compatible and there are some that are not.

MS office and such will be compatible with no problems.

also viruses don't transfer unless the files you're copying contain the virus. in which case, scan the files you want (with your anti-virus software) to copy before copying them if you want to be sure.
 
dont freekout about the viruses in office documents if you made them your safe, but office 2003 works fine on windows 7 I rather office 2003 then 07, just me tho
