Window 7 not genuine?

This message suddenly popped up in the right hand, bottom corner "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine". Huh? I had never seen this announcement on a computer, and I have possessed quite a few over the years. This is a commercial Laptop, made by Toshiba, and I never have replaced the Windows software. I, however, had made a backup using Acronis, and just had restored the system to a previous setup using this software. Had my restoration somehow modified this information, and what are the possible consequences of using a version that is not genuine?
This brings up the question: Is there a way to check if the software used has the same Product Code as the one published on the external sticker? This would be helpful specially when buying used equipment.
Any comments anyone?

If you restored it it is possible it may think it's not on the same laptop. Go into the system properties and attempt to activate Windows with the product ID found on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. You may need to talk to the Microsoft robot if it doesn't activate over the internet.

Thanks voyagerfan99--I went to Systems and searched for Activate Windows. It went to a window where I had to enter the Product Code and ask for verification. I did so and the pop up text that my 'Windows was not genuine' disappeared. It must be something that happened in restoring the data like you suspected, but I have done zillions of restorations on my computers using Acronis and never had this happen to me. You always learn something....
